On behalf of the editorial board and the publisher of FV&V in ObGyn, I would like to thank all the authors and referees who have been contributing to the journal this year. Once again we observed a broad input from many different fields related to obstetrics, perinatal medicine, gynaecology and reproductive health.
Beside the four regular issues we also published one Monograph in 2013.
The Monograph “Preterm birth” was edited by Robert E. Garfield, Phoenix, USA. It turned out to become a very attractive book with 12 papers from around the globe from some of the leading authors of papers on preterm labor and birth. In the USA copies of the monograph were sent to all members of the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine and the Society for Gynecological Investigation. The Monograph was also distributed to all participants of the annual meeting of the Flemish Society of Obstetrics & Gynaecology in Genk, October 2013.
From June 2013 the Walking Egg non-profit organization took over ownership from the VVOG, a mutual agreement between the VVOG and the Walking Egg npo. It was decided that the VVOG remains the first partner and that the journal will continue to be the “International Scientific Journal of the VVOG”.
In the meantime, ”F,V&V in ObGyn” also became the official scientific journal of ISMAAR (International Society for Mild approaches in Assisted Reproduction). ISMAAR is a charity (non-profit making) organization founded to promote a safer, less drug-orientated and a more physiological, accessible and woman-friendly approach to assisted reproduction.
In 2013 our artistic reviewer, Koen Vanmechelen received the Golden Nica for his ‘Cosmopolitan Chicken Project’. This award is the most prestigious international award in the field of contemporary media art. The international jury unanimously chose Vanmechelen out of nearly 600 candidates in the category ‘Hybrid Art’.
I want to congratulate Koen and I hope that the confrontation of art and science will be continued in our journal next year.
I sincerely hope that next year will be as exciting as 2013 with plenty of original scientific papers, PhD Summaries, strong opinions and interesting viewpoints.
Wishing you and your families a prosperous 2014,
